For this project, the goal was to find an interesting public domain map and recreate it in Adobe Illustrator. The British Museum's Flickr page was recommended as a starting point, but other map resources were fair game, too. The main mission? Take an existing map and give it a fresh new look while getting VERY familiar with the Pen Tool. And by very familiar, we mean spending enough time with it to question every life decision made while placing anchor points.

The design needed to include fillable shapes, interesting graphics, and plenty of Pen Tool practice. The idea was to recreate the map's details as accurately as possible while making the final result clean, visually appealing, and uniquely its own. It wasn't just about tracing lines and calling it a day; it was about learning how to turn a reference image into a polished vector illustration. Easy enough, right? Just you, Illustrator, and approximately a million anchor points!

    ROAM0120 Map Project

This map was a real test of patience and precision! To create it, hours were spent playing the game, mapping out each location, and figuring out how everything connected. Since the map had to be created manually, making sure the layout was accurate and cohesive took quite a bit of work. The game itself is a niche point-and-click horror game, which made the project even more interesting. Despite the challenge, the goal was to create a detailed map that captured the game's layout as accurately as possible. After all those hours of exploring spooky locations, quitting halfway through simply wasn't an option!
